Walktober Team Members

Cookshack Gets Fit in Walktober Contest!

Cookshack team members walk to feel better, get fit, and be healthy! Cookshack sponsored an in-house Walktober contest to run parallel with the Ponca City, OK competition of Walktober

held during the month of October.  While they also entered teams in the city contest, they had more participants in the in-house competition.Over 62% of all Cookshack employees participated

in the Cookshack version of Walktober!

Cookshack asked each of its team members to record how many steps they walked each day for the month of October.  They were each provided a pedometer so they could accurately record their steps.  There were five teams with six members on each team. These 30 Cookshack team members walked 9,895,889 steps in October! That averages to 329,862 steps per person!

The teams were Smokin’ Butts First Place, Road Hogs Second Place, The Sugar Shakers Third Place, Shakin’ Bacon Fourth Place, and Wild Hogs Fifth Place.  The winning team was rewarded with a team lunch at a restaurant of their choice. The Cookshack top walkers for October were Bobby McCarty, Cameron Moore, and Karen Hoogendoorn. Smokin’ Butts team members were Susan Emery, James Mukul, Amber Wilcher, Aimee Snyder, Jody Mitchell, and Bobby McCarty. Road Hogs team members were Bo Vasquez, Courtney Altman, Jim Linnebur, Karen Hoogendoorn, Robbie Powell, and Carl Spore.  Team Sugar Shaker consisted of Bill Vice, Carla McCarty, Jared Burns, Jason Golay, Robbie Wilcher, and Dave Melnick. Shakin’ Bacon team included Dara Marlar, Jake Rowe, Dan Ruth, Cameron Moore, Dave Mason, and Terri

Gordon. The Wild Hogs team members were Eli Miller, Rodney Rogers, Tony Marlar, Ron Convers, Tom Spiser, and Lynn Burris.

Cookshack has several programs to encourage their team members to stay healthy. They encourage employees to get an annual physical. They look at key factors to see if the employee is improving and if they have shown improvement over the prior year they may win a prize in a drawing. They sponsor a monthly program to encourage walking and exercising by offering gift cards to all employees who set fitness goals and achieve them each month. They also pay for flu shots for employees each year.
